Independent music often grows through small, specific conversations: a vocalist meets a producer, a rapper needs a mix engineer, or two artists realize their ideas fit together. IHHR’s artist forum gives those conversations a public starting point while listeners keep hearing the station.
Lead with the project, not a vague request
“Who wants to collab?” is easy to overlook. A better topic names the kind of work and what you are looking for: “R&B vocalist looking for a producer for a three-song demo” or “Independent rapper interested in a hook writer for a reflective track.” In the message, describe the sound, stage of the project, what you can contribute, and the kind of collaborator who would help. Keep expectations realistic; do not promise exposure or a release date you cannot support.
Ask one focused question so another artist has a way in. Are you looking for writing feedback, a feature, a beat arrangement, or advice on getting a first release ready? Those are different conversations. If you want to learn more about following independent scenes and credits, read our guide to discovering underground rap artists.
Use the forum’s review process
On the Community page, choose Artist forum, enter a display name, optionally add a city or region, give your discussion a clear title, and explain your idea. New topics and replies are reviewed before becoming public. If the forum is quiet when you arrive, a thoughtful first topic is more useful than a generic promotion.
The public form asks you not to post contact details or links. That keeps private information off an open page. Use the forum to discuss the idea itself; do not post another person’s unreleased lyrics, stems, or personal details without permission. If a collaboration progresses, agree privately on credits, file sharing, and what each person is allowed to release.
Ask the station through the correct channel
A forum post is not a music submission. To ask about getting your music on IHHR, send an inquiry to independenthiphopradio@gmail.com. Introduce yourself, identify the track or project, and ask what submission details the station needs. Do not assume a forum post or email guarantees airplay.

If you simply want to meet listeners, start with the live chat; for a personal greeting, see the shout-out guide. All three spaces are on the same IHHR Community page.
